Dumbest Liberal Comment This Week (So Far)

Of course it is only Tuesday...

Talk of God at such a "sacred" place like the Lincoln Memorial is "inappropriate".

Lies, Damned Lies, and Politicians...

I kept waiting for Gibb's head to start spinning around. The fun starts at 1:14 in...

Let's go to the video!

Unintended Consiquenses of ObamaCare

Reimbursement to doctors and hospitals are cut 26%, placing additional burden on country owned local hospitals across the country.

Faced with mounting debt and looming costs from the new federal health-care law, many local governments are leaving the hospital business, shedding public facilities that can be the caregiver of last resort.
...
The county has raised property taxes in recent years to bolster the hospital, which spends more than $1 million just to pay emergency-room physicians
...
In the first half of 2010, there were 25 deals involving 53 hospitals that were bought or merged, for a total of $3.1 billion, according to Levin Associates.

Lower reimbursements lead to fewer public owned hospitals, a reduction in health care access in many rural communities. and fewer places that will accept government health insurance.

Maybe now that Democrats have passed their bill 'so the public can find out what's in it', polls show a continued slide in support for Obama/Pelosi health care "reform".

One Country, Different Dreams?

If I were a cynical person looking at today's activities, I'd say there are some people who just don't get it.

Washington Post has posted some random comments that have been coming in from their people on the scene. I'll let you guess which ones came from supporters of Beck versus supporters of Sharpton.

"Shame on them. We still have a dream. We are here to let those folks on the Mall know that they don't represent the dream," said Jaime Contreras, president of SEIU-32BJ. "They sure as hell don't represent me. They represent hate-mongering and angry white people. The happy white people are here today. We will not let them stand in the way of the change we voted for!"

"Glen Beck, we're going to show you. We ain't going to let Glenn Beck turn us around," one man shouted into a mega phone. The crowd followed him. A few people took photos as they chanted and walked down Constitution Avenue. "We need to be shouting 'we are America,'" said one woman in Sharpton's rally. "See all those tea baggers." The two crowds mostly gawked at each other and smiled.

"Don't let anyone tell you that they have the right to take their country back," Avis Jones DeWeever, executive director of the National Council of Negro Women told the crowd at the Rev. Al Sharpton's rally. "It's our country, too. We will reclaim the dream. It was ours from the beginning."

But Brett Cummings of Gordon Ga wasn't happy. "Look at the statement if we had all come together as one." Katheryn Travis who came to Beck Rally from Knoxville Tenn was almost in
tears. "Dr King wanted all of us to come together. We have to believe that."

Denver Post Not a Fan of Obmanomics

"Economic growth was revised down to a piddling 1.6 percent in the second quarter, the Commerce Department reported Friday. It's a significant drop from the 3.7 percent growth in the first quarter.

Economists expect the third quarter to hardly grow much more, estimating 1.7 percent growth.

It looks like the Keynesian theory of infusing massive amounts of government cash into the economy has fizzled. And while many other factors also explain the lack of economic energy, the bottom line is that nearly everyone — from consumers to business owners to government decision-makers — faces tremendous unknowns.

Worries about maintaining jobs and salaries stymie consumers. Businesses are holding back money. Economists also say that likely changes to tax laws and new regulatory environments are having a chilling effect.

And that uncertainty continues to hobble our consumer-generated economy.

The news is dire and the message — we hope — is simple: We need clear-eyed action going forward. Kicking around political footballs when there is a chance the country could slip back into recession cannot be tolerated."

Confirmed: Obama Dropping Deportation Cases

Report confirms what was being reported in the Houston Chronicle.

Feds Moving to Dismiss Deportation Cases

From the Houston Chronicle: The Department of Homeland Security is systematically reviewing thousands of pending immigration cases and moving to dismiss those filed against suspected illegal immigrants...Richard Rocha, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman, said Tuesday that the review is part of the agency's broader, nationwide strategy to prioritize the deportations of illegal immigrants who pose a threat to national security and public safety. Rocha declined to provide further details.

"Beat Whitey Night"???

Sounds like it time for another teachable moment over a beer for President Obama.

Saying "I Told You So" Just Doesn't Make Me Feel Better

Michael Bennet, D-Colo,at a town hall meeting in Greeley last Saturday, Aug 21 said we had nothing to show for the debt incurred by the stimulus package and other expenditures calling the recession the worst since the Great Depression.
“We have managed to acquire $13 trillion of debt on our balance sheet, in my view we have nothing to show for it.”

Obama's Islamic Stimulus?

First NASA, now this. Obama is funding another Islamic "cultural outreach" program.

That Sinking Feeling

Democrats and the Obama administration continue to speak with great optimism. Vice President Joe Biden recently predicted that the economy was rebounding and would soon be creating 250,000 to 500,000 new jobs a month (the economy shed another 12,000 jobs last month). Obama continues to point blame to the mess created by Bush's war.

However if you do the math, as the Washing Examiner recently did, Obama's stimulus bill cost more then Bush's war. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported the cost of the war at $709 Billion. The first two years of Obama's stimulus bill will cost more then the 6 years of the Iraq war during the Bush administration

The just reported July home sales fell 27.7%. The main stream media the did more research on what Sarah Palin was throwing into her trash then what Obama's actual qualifications/accomplishments were that might qualify him to hold the most important position in the word, is finally starting to drop words like "unexpected" when reporting bad economic news.

President Obama has stated that he wasn't concerned about being re-elected. I'd say that's a good thing. I'm looking forward to seeing him playing a lot of golf after 2012.

The Left Reaches for a New Low

This is almost a year old, but I just came across it. Members of the left wing moonbat group "Code Pink" targeted the children of US soldiers going to a White House Halloween event. On their website they bragged, "We protested wars against Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran. We gave the kids a dramatic show of ghouls and vampires sucking Americans blood to feed their wars".

They dressed as 'zombie soldiers killed in combat', and 'ghosts of war victims' while parading in along the kids waiting in line. A report by Reuters stated "One protester dresses as a Wicked Witch was saying things like, "More pretties to die in my war!"

Dressed as dead soldiers. Staging a protest in front of kids. Whose parents are serving in the military. On Halloween.

Code Pink, founded by top Obama campaign fundraiser Jodie Evans, was a major supporter of the Obama campaign and was a founding member of the Obama campaign finance team. Her name appeared on the White House visitors log twice in June 2009 just days after visiting Gaza, where she hand delivered a letter to President Obama from HAMAS. Code Pink was of the many "grassroots" organizations that supported Hope and Change. In 2004 Code Pink was also one of the groups that donated $600,000 to the families of those Iraqis killed fighting against US Marines in the bloody battle for Fallujah. She has also met with the Taliban, who she praised as bringing peace and justice to Afghanistan while the US had failed.

Shortly after Halloween protest, Jodie Evans was leading protests in Egypt and Gaza with Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dorhn, where they contributed "tens of thousands of dollars" to a HAMAS "relief organization". She also traveled to Iran as a personal guest of Iranian President Ahmadinejad.

t1larg

The Obama campaign had received $33,000 in illegal donations from Gaza. The campaign had originally reported to the FEC that those donation came from Georgia, and returned the funds after the truth became public.

CNN Correspondent Now Communist Presidential Candidate in El Salvador

The most trusted name in news? Published on the News Busters web site. Best line is that he "considers himself to be El Salvador's Barack Obama..."

Of course he does. He is even using images of Barack Obama in campaign ads.

Once Again, Obama Administration Finds Islam Not Violent

Jihad? What Jihad???

After what was no doubt a through and detailed investigation, the Defense Department final review of the Fort Hood shooting was simply a case of "workplace violence". The reports states that Army Major Nidal Hasan "allegedly opened fire at a Fort Hood facility where soldiers were processing for overseas deployments". Allegedly?

The Pentagon press release may be found here.

Maybe NASA assisted in the investigation.

The Left Start to Eat Their Own

I'm not surprised by the recent poll numbers that 1/3 of Americans believe that President Obama is Muslim, however I am surprised that 1/3 of Americans still believe that he is competent.

From the L.A. Times:

"Just a few minor things to catch up on for the weekend now that the Fundraiser-in-Chief has gone on another vacation (Don't worry though. White House chef Sam Kass went along, so the first family need not eat ordinary human food.)

-- The Congressional Budget Office says the 2010 federal deficit will be in excess of $1.3 trillion, as in $1,000,000,000,000+. (BTW, the next level we'll be talking about out of Washington is quadrillion, which has fifteen 0's.)

-- Despite Vice President Joe Biden's April boast that administration stimulus spending would spur the economy to add a half-million jobs a month by now, initial unemployment claims jumped a half-million last week, the worst since last November, as national unemployment remains at 9.5% and the economy sheds 131,000 more jobs.

-- But the economy's going great at the Democratic National Committee, which reports collecting $11.5 million from donors in July on top of the $53.8 million already taken in from various sources this year. The president just devoted three workdays across five states to rake in several more millions for his party.

-- But before leaving for his ninth presidential vacation, 10 days at a....

...secluded estate on Martha's Vineyard, Obama devoted four minutes in the White House driveway to a special statement on the latest disappointing jobs numbers. (Full text, as usual, can be read on the jump, along with a brief reaction from the Republican National Committee chairman.)

No questions allowed because the president didn't want to explain why despite the administration's announced Recovery Summer Program, the jobs numbers have started going backward again after 19 months of promises and $787 billion in alleged stimulation spending. Because, faced with the uncertainty of the economy and the certainty of new taxes after Nov. 2, employers are holding back on hiring

According to the president, he's been "adamant" with Congress for months now about a new jobs bill to help small businesses. Obama says this really good bill is stalled in the Senate, where so much administration legislation has been crammed through so effectively by Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Reid's been so good at it, in fact, that he's now running for his political life in a reelection campaign back in Nevada where unemployment is 14.3% and Obama's legislation is not so popular.

Reid's up against a conservative Republican. So, that means Harry Reid must be a Democrat, just like Obama, and just like 59% of the Senate's votes.

The very same party that has controlled both houses of Congress since the 2006 election and reallycontrolled them both since the 2008 hopey-changey balloting.

So, facing the growing grim possibility of a GOP surge on Nov. 2, is this maybe the start of buddy-bickering within the Democratic huddle? Vulnerable people pointing the proverbial political finger of blame at someone else? That's ridiculous, of course."

Ben Smith reported on Thursday that at least one Democrat strategist is strongly recommending that incumbent Democrats back away from the health care bill that they pushed so hard for.

A confidential PowerPoint presentation has been leaked on-line. The presentation warns "Many don't believe health care reform will help the economy". and counsels against making claims that "the law will reduce cost and [the] deficit."

On their web site, conservitive Think Tank Heritage Foundation is equating this to a Democrat call to "...abandon ship on claims that lawmakers made for months during the health reform debate--that the legislation would in any way reduce the nation's deficit or lower heal care costs..."

If public opinion continues to decline for the Democrats, I fully expect Princess Pelosi to find some way to claim that the health care bill was Bush's fault.

Yes, I Do Miss Him...

I didn't agree with everything that President Bush did, including his decision to go into Iraq. Iraq helped keep Iran in check, plus he pushed the war in Iraq before Afghanistan was stabilized militarily and politically.

BUT, I believe that on August 11 President Obama was playing golf.

It's not just about politics and policy. It's also about character.

Pelosi Doubles Down on NY Mosque

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-elusional) calls for an investigation into the funding surrounding the 9-11 Mosque. But she wants to investigate those that OPPOSE the mosque.

"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," she said. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City." - Nancy Pelosi

Having the right to do something, and doing the right thing are not the same. If the true purpose of this building is outreach, dialog, and bringing faiths together, why would they choose this site?

Rush makes some interesting points:

I believe this just piles on evidence that Nancy Pelosi is an idiot, and that most of our elected officials are completely out of touch with the real America.

President: No to Day of Prayer, Yes to Ramadan

Things that make you say hmmmmm....

In April, President Obama canceled White House National Day of Payer ceremony:

"Obama cancelled 2010 White House National Day of Prayer ceremony. The National Day of Prayer has historically been the first Thursday in May, since Harry S. Truman put it into effect in 1952, but wasn’t official until the days of Ronald Reagan.

For eight years, the White House held a celebration on the National Day of Prayer, and last year Obama cancelled the celebration, and the ceremony has been cancelled for 2010. In 2009, CNN reported that Obama was toning down the National Day of Prayer by cancelling the White House ceremony..."

While canceling the White House National Day of Prayer ceremonies President Obama continues to hold an annual dinner to celebrate the the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, where last year he paid tribute to what he called "a great religion and its commitment to justice and progress".

This year he spoke of Islam's "great diversity and racial equality...Islam has always been a part of America". No doubt it will be part of America now that President Obama has come out in support of the 9/11 mosque.

The name of the "9/11 mosque" Cordoba House, may not have meaning to most Americans. It is named after Cordoba Spain.

It's signifance in Islamic history is well known in the Muslim world. A bit of a history lesson:

"Cordoba was, of course, the seat of the caliphate established in what is now modern Spain after the Islamic invasion from North Africa in the 8th century A.D. The medieval occupation of Spain – “al-Andalus” – is considered by Islamic theorists to have been an inevitable step in the manifest destiny of Islam, and its eventual reversal through the lengthy European “Reconquista” a tragic but temporary triumph of the infidels. The great mosque at Cordoba was built on the foundation of a Christian cathedral...(Muslims then went on to) sell its inhabitants into slavery, provide a base for slaver raids into other parts of Europe, and rule by the sword in much of the caliphate."

President Obama continues to stand up for the rights of illegal immigrants, and seems to go to extremes in order to reach out to Muslims (actual press releases from US Department of the Treasury and NASA???). He appears to have little interest in white Christians who pay their taxes, those of us who are bitter and cling to our guns and religion who continue to express alarm and frustration regarding the direction our country is heading.

Here is video of the President's complete speech from last week's Ramadan dinner:

Obama Administration Gives Shout Outs to Muslims

Statement by the President on the Occasion of Ramadan, as provided by the White House

On behalf of the American people, Michelle and I want to extend our best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world. Ramadan Kareem.

Ramadan is a time when Muslims around the world reflect upon the wisdom and guidance that comes with faith, and the responsibility that human beings have to one another, and to God. This is a time when families gather, friends host iftars, and meals are shared. But Ramadan is also a time of intense devotion and reflection – a time when Muslims fast during the day and pray during the night; when Muslims provide support to others to advance opportunity and prosperity for people everywhere. For all of us must remember that the world we want to build – and the changes that we want to make – must begin in our own hearts, and our own communities.

These rituals remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings. Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality. And here in the United States, Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country. And today, I want to extend my best wishes to the 1.5 billion Muslims around the world – and your families and friends – as you welcome the beginning of Ramadan.

I look forward to hosting an Iftar dinner celebrating Ramadan here at the White House later this week, and wish you a blessed month.

May God’s peace be upon you.

And from the US Treasury department:

Treasury Department Statement Marking the Beginning of Ramadan

WASHINGTON As Muslims in the United States and around the world begin their observance of Ramadan, the U.S. Department of the Treasury recognizes the importance of this period of intense devotion, reflection and charitable giving. Charitable giving and philanthropy are core American values, reflected in many faiths and traditions, and are of particular significance within the Muslim faith during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Treasury Department fully supports the ability of American Muslims and Muslims worldwide to fulfill their religious obligations through charitable giving and seeks to advance charitable giving at home and abroad, while protecting the charitable sector from the threat posed by those who seek to abuse this sacred obligation. In recent years, Treasury has strengthened its partnership with the charitable sector and donor community to promote transparency and to safeguard against such abuse.

The Treasury Department will continue to work closely with the charitable sector and Muslim American communities to promote our common goals of safe and effective charitable activity and to protect the sector from exploitation by terrorist organizations. We look forward to the continued development of this partnership.

3 Things About Islam

About 7 years ago, I worked with a guy who I considered pretty smart. He had designed a couple of credit scoring and risk management software programs, and sold his company to Fair Issac. I commuted to work from another state, so I was without my family during the week and we used to have deep conversations late into the night about politics and religion. He was a big believer in education and was pursuing his Ph.d in Comparative Religious Studies, just to have something to do in is spare time. Our conversations on the Bible and religion often turned toward Islam, as he had a deep conviction that Islam was something to be feared and watched, that it was more then a religion and had strong political and social agendas. When the night got late and he had to go home to his family, he always ended the conversation by encouraging me to do my own research. Since then I've done quite a bit of research on Islam, even spending a week's vacation reading through several books that I had added to my library and reading several research papers on the impact that Muslim immigration was having on European countries.

I learned that my friend was right. I encourage you to watch this video, and if you believe that I'm exaggerating or have some type of religious bigotry, then I'll say to you the same thing my friend said to me on those late nights over beers, if you don't believe me do your own research and prove me wrong.

Thank you Alan.

Is The Sky Falling?

From Fortune.com:

"FORTUNE -- The Great Depression. Wall Street in 1987. Japan in 1997. Points of economic collapse are generally crystal clear in the rear-view mirror. Professional politicians in Japan have been telling stories for 20 years as to why they can prevent economic stagnation. In the US, the storytelling started in 2007. All the while, stock market and real-estate prices have repeatedly rallied to lower-highs, then collapsed again, to lower-lows.

Despite the many differences between Japan and the US, there is one similarity that continues to matter most in the risk management model my colleagues and I use at Hedgeye, our research firm -- debt as a percentage of GDP. Now that the US can't cut interest rates any lower, the only option left on the table is what the Fed just announced it would start doing -- buying Treasury debt. And that could lead the country to the brink of collapse: According to economists Carmen Reinhart & Ken Rogoff, whose views we share, crossing the 90% debt/GDP threshold is the equivalent of crossing the proverbial Rubicon of economic growth. It's a point from which it's almost impossible to return."

From MarketWatch.com:

"The government's first estimate of quarterly GDP growth for a quarter includes assumptions for the third month for inventories and trade.

Government economists had expected the deficit to widen but the June data surprised everyone.

The report was "spectacularly terrible," said Ian Shepherdson, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics."
