A net loss of 85,000 jobs in December. 6.1 million Americans have been unemployed for 27 weeks or more, the highest since WW II. The Department of Labor calculates the "U-6" unemployment rate, which includes people who are working part time while seeking full time employment and those who have stopped looking for work at 17.6%. Robert Reich, Labor secretary under President Clinton has stated that the "chances of unemployment being 10% next November are overwhelmingly high".
And still President Obama's primary objective is to "reform" 1/6 of the US economy.
